We all see things while shopping that looks so cool on a mannequin or a dapper model in a glossy mag but question if you can actually pull it off. In most cases, for me, the answer is no, so I just look and continue on my not-so-merry way. This happens more often than I’d like to admit, unfortunately, and stumbling across the cool, crisp fashion stylings of LAURENCEAIRLINE was one of these times.
LAURENCEAIRLINE is a fashion label that rose from the aftermath of the Ivory Coast humanitarian and political crisis. The brand blends fashion and the unique culture of the region to create their first menswear collection, ABIDJAN, which focuses on shirts and underwear that display ethnic patterns and tells a story through an elegant mix of poplin, chambray, and wax cotton fabrics.
Recently launched for the SS 12 season, this collection of menswear helps create employment in Laurence’s hometown of Abidjan, where education remains unaffordable to most. LAURENCEAIRLINE hopes to, in the near future, build a learning centre where young people can collaborate and have the chance to hone their fashion sewing and knitting talents to make creative trade possible.
At the moment, it doesn’t look like their online store is up yet, but in Europe and Japan, you can check out LAURENCEAIRLINE here. In the meantime, view their inspiring fashions and beautiful photography here.
Thank you LAURENCEAIRLINE for making our world wonderful.
